Acer campestre Elsrijk is a useful cultivar of Field Maple which has all of the qualities of its parent, Acer campestre with the added benefit of crown uniformity.
It has a significantly more regular shaped, oval habit than the rounded shape expected with the parent tree and in this sense if similar to other cultivars such as Elegant and Arends.
Acer campestre Elsrijk is tolerant of most soil types, although it does do best in rich, well drained soils. As with many of the native trees, it is a tough contender and will tolerate drought, air pollution and soil compaction.
This tree reaches a medium to large size at maturity and is most suited to projects that require more regularity than the parent tree can offer. It is also extensively planted as a street tree in urban environments.
Mature height: 7-12m
