Eco-Tec’s Biogas Purification System – BgPur™ – is an award-winning technology that reduces sulfur dioxide emissions, equipment corrosion, and fouling by removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from biogas; in turn, BgPur recovers the biogas for multiple power-generation applications – with no waste or disposal of potentially hazardous media.
Methane gas is derived through anaerobic digestion processes used by, among others, food processors, landfills, waste treatment, water treatment, and livestock farms. To produce biogas, methane gas first needs to be purified by removing the hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Once the H2S is efficiently and economically removed, the methane can then be reused for power generation, cogeneration, and heating applications.
Through its patented, high efficiency scrubbing process, Eco-Tec’s BgPur provides an economical system that effectively removes H2S from methane gas, and converts it into an elemental sulfur by-product. This by-product is non-hazardous and can be disposed of safely with biosolids, as a fertilizer or in a landfill. The biogas scrubbing system can improve the economic feasibility of energy recovery by reducing maintenance and operating costs of biogas handling.
