Na-ion batteries are ideal for stationary storage applications over a wide temperature range, thanks to their high energy density — both by mass and volume — combined with safety and cost advantages
Applications can include:
Residential and industrial storage
Back-up power supplies for telecoms
Back-up power supplies or storage in remote applications and locations, including offshore
The capability for the transportation of sodium-ion cells fully shorted (zero volts) means that they can be utilised in remote locations and applications, including offshore, where transporting batteries is restricted or hazardous, for example by helicopter.
We are working with partners on the Innovate UK funded project Low Cost Storage of Renewable Energy to demonstrate the use of Na-ion technology for solar energy storage.
