A nappy rash is essentially a skin rash - irritation and inflammation of the skin located in the nappy area of infants and young children. A nappy rash is characterised by redness and scaling of the skin in the nappy area. It can occur when a baby’s dirty nappy is in contact with the skin for too long. You may also find that children with extra sensitive skin are more prone to nappy rash.
